Exploring your retirement
plans
Your Member Service Advisor can get you on track. Together,
you can explore your plans for the period after retiring from the OPP. Will you
work at another job or career, or will you kick back
and take it easy after so many years of hard work? Do
you plan to travel? Are you thinking about selling your
home and moving? These choices will affect the amount
of retirement income you’ll need.

Assessing your financial
situation
How long you’ve worked for the OPP will affect
the amount of pension you receive. However, you’ll
also need to consider:
- Does your spouse or partner have
a pension? If so, how much will it provide?
- What other retirement payments or benefits
will you receive from the OPP?
- Will you have income from a second
career after retirement?
- Will you be debt free?
- Will you still have a mortgage to pay off?
- Will you have support payments?
- Will you be paying for your children’s
education?
Just answering these simple questions
will give you a clearer picture of your retirement needs
and how well prepared you are.
